RESOLUTION NO. 13-02
DATED March 7, 2013

TITLE: A resolution expressing concern and appeal to all candidates for the midterm elections and members of the Media industry particularly the Negros Press Club on the issue of Press Freedom, harassment and sense of Fairness

Whereas NPC member Rey Carmona wrote the Negros Press Club, through its president Ranilo S. Azue claiming he was a victim of harassment by two incumbent members of the Sangguniang Panlunsod of Bacolod, namely Em Legaspi Ang and Atty. Caesar Distrito for tackling negative issues against them;

Whereas Carmona stated in his letter that the two along with "bodyguards" trooped to DYAF Radio Veritas Bacolod for obvious reasons.

Whereas councilors Ang and Distito after being informed of the complaint filed against them vehemently denied harassing Carmona and insisted they went to the station to answer and clarify the issue.

Whereas councilor Ang pointed out that Carmona is also a candidate for the Sangguniang Panlunsod in the coming May polls and that he is using the airwaves of DYAF for his own personal advantage at their expense.

Whereas Councilor Ang stressed Carmona cannot hide under the cloak of "Press Freedom" and cry harassment for he is also a candidate like them.

THE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

January 20, 2013

To my colleagues in the Negros Press Club,

Arma Toga

Since March 1 last year, we whom you elected as officers for 2012-2013, tried our best to do what we can for the members and for the club as a whole.

Since we were still courting you for your support prior to last year’s election, we in the board remained united with one objective: Come up with activities that will build more friendship, solidify camaraderie and bonding, promote closer understanding and respect to one another’s personal views, opinions, and biases.

We believe that by holding frequent social gatherings, we will be able to attain such objective, and in ways and means that the club will be spared from spending a lot, and better if none at all.
